Three held after Accra phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere allegedly kidnapped and killed

Three people are in police custody in Accra after the reported abduction and killing of Nana Yaw Kyere, aged 33, who traded in phones at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. The Ghana Police Service announced the arrests on Monday, 28 September, after work by its Missing Persons Unit. YEN.com.gh reports that the suspects have since been before a court, which has set 16 October for the next hearing.

• Police allege the body was taken on 20 September in a Kia Morning to a spot beside the motorway, dumped in bush and burned. Community 18 was where a partly burnt body turned up on 21 September, and his biological mother and an uncle identified it at the Police Hospital morgue on 24 September.
• Officers say they have retrieved Mr Kyere's iPhone 12 and allege Mr Tefe sold it for GH₵100. The man who bought it, named as Sunday Omeje, was placed under caution and is being held over suspicion of dishonestly receiving the phone.
• Mr Obodai was arrested over his alleged role in getting rid of the body. Police have impounded a Kia Morning that belongs to his father and which they believe carried it, and they say they are working to identify and arrest anyone else involved.
• Police say the three suspects remain in custody and are due to be brought before a court while the investigation continues.
